Message from Chief Executive Officer

Dear Colleagues,

GHK was filled with Christmas vibe in the past few weeks. The caroling at our lobby sent warm wishes to our patients and visitors, and our staff festive buffets and activities gave us all a great time to unwind and have some fun with fellow colleagues amid our busy work. This year, we also celebrated the festive season with about 400 children and family members of the Children’s Cancer Foundation through joining volunteering service at a Christmas party hosted by the Foundation.

Thank you for your staunch support, year 2024 was marked with numerous achievements and remarkable progress in different areas. In addition to opening more clinics under Gleneagles Healthcare, we continued to introduce more novel systems and equipment and further strengthened our training capability. The launch of our Gleneagles Clinical Trials Centre also marked an important step in our commitment to further advancing medical research and patient care. What was even more exciting was that we have embarked on a redevelopment project of another private hospital. These achievements have further helped us pave way to develop ourselves into a centre of professional training, health science research and advanced healthcare centre that is well connected with our community. Simultaneously, and where appropriate, we have been working to progressively introduce automation and digitalisation to streamline workflows so that you may spend more time on delivering personalised care to patients.

Alongside our steady expansion, we have also been living up to our aspiration to “Care. For Good.”. A few examples include our partnership with a social enterprise to launch a community brain health awareness campaign; provision of medical support to the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Paris 2024 Paralympics, and thanks to our colleagues, we participated in a number of volunteer service initiatives to show our care for the wider community. Back to our own hospital, we spared no effort in taking good care of your wellbeing. This has driven us to enhance our caring policies and initiatives including the Intellect app which supports your mental health; to instill a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion; and to leverage our Uniquely Yours spirit to create a positive and nurturing work environment for you all.

The enviable achievements are a vivid showcase of our strong and devoted team. The many initiatives taken also reaffirm our commitment to continue to grow and build the Gleneagles brand in both Hong Kong and the nearby regions. In a recent tea gathering I shared with colleagues some of the plans which are already in the pipeline. These include training our clinical teams to perform highly complex and advanced procedures; facilitating even higher operational efficiency; and further elevating our “hospitel” service quality.

All these plans for growth will inevitably mean another busy year ahead of us, but I am also confident that it will be a fulfilling and rewarding journey and we will all be proud of what we can achieve as a team.

Gleneagles Dispensary Hong Kong has recently celebrated its opening! Supported by a professional team of experienced pharmacists, the Dispensary strives to serve patients and the wider community as a one-stop medication and health consultation hub. Through providing one-on-one personalised consultation service, our pharmacists advise patients on products suitable for their healthcare needs, drug usage and other relevant information. A wide range of over-the-counter medications, specialised medications and health supplements as well as home-use medical devices are also available at the Dispensary.

IHH Healthcare marks 20 Years in China
with Parkway brand relaunch

Congratulations to Parkway Shanghai on its 20 years of healthcare excellence!

Earlier this month, Parkway Shanghai, our sister operation under IHH Healthcare North Asia, celebrated the 20th anniversary in the Chinese market with the “Parkway Shanghai 20th Anniversary & Brand Relaunch Ceremony”. Featuring the launch of the new brand positioning, “Precision Care, Warmly Delivered”, the momentous milestone event was graced by the Shanghai government officials, consulates, chambers of commerce and our partners. The brand relaunch also reaffirms IHH Healthcare’s commitment to deepen its investment and strengthen its healthcare services in Shanghai.

Harnessing international experience and
innovative technologies to elevate healthcare services

At the 2024 Shanghai Medical Exchange Conference, our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang shared the complementary role of Parkway Shanghai, GHK’s sister brand under IHH Healthcare, in contributing to the continuing delivery and development of high-quality healthcare in Shanghai. Dr Tsang also engaged the audience with the topic “How Medical Technology Helps Improve Medical Quality” in the 21st Top Healthcare Asia Congress 2024, and shared GHK’s experiences in leveraging healthcare technological innovations to elevate diagnostic accuracy, and enhance clinical outcomes and patient experience.

GHK was privileged to have participated in two industry events in Shanghai: the 2024 Shanghai Medical Exchange Conference and the 21st Top Healthcare Asia Congress 2024. The occasions offered engaging platforms for knowledge sharing on the development of high-quality healthcare in Shanghai as well as the development of high-quality healthcare services leveraging the application of innovative technologies.

Celebrating Christmas with Children and families of
Children’s Cancer Foundation

We have recently participated in a heart-warming Christmas party for 400 young patients and their families organised by the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF).

A team of GHK volunteers shared lots of joyous moments with the brave young hearts and their families of CCF during the activity-packed celebration filled with interactive game booths, great performances by the kids and doctors, and lucky draws. A big “Thank you” to our volunteers for their enthusiastic support!

Colleagues rolled up their sleeves to create tasty patisserie while bonding with fellow colleagues over flour and frosting at baking workshops.

Wishing everyone a joyful Christmas!

GHK spread the Christmas joy among staff with festive lunch and dinner buffets, games,
DIY workshop and photo corner. The party buzzed with excitement and holiday cheers
as colleagues enjoyed the get-together and sent blessings to each other.

Patient safety forum - Speak Up Culture

Themed “Speak Up Culture”, the Patient Safety Forum led staff to exchange thoughts on the importance of speaking up about lapses through case sharing and role-play. The forum also aims to foster a culture which empowers staff to make suggestions for continuous improvement.
