Dear colleagues,
While we enjoyed the celebration of Lunar New Year earlier in the month, February was another busy month for GHK as the increasing patient volume continued its momentum from January. I wish to thank all our colleagues who were on duty during the Lunar New Year and provided excellent patient service during that time. Well done! What also kept us busy was the preparation for launching more new services.
Today is an important milestone as our Behavioural Health ward, also named as the “Daylily Ward”, is officially open! This launch makes GHK the first private hospital in Hong Kong to provide inpatient psychiatry service and is another important step in our journey of bringing innovation and new services to the people of Hong Kong. Engagement with psychiatrists, relevant associations, interest groups etc are underway to make sure that doctors are well informed of the service and support we provide. I would like to thank our dedicated teams and doctors for their committed work in commissioning the service. My best wishes to the Behavioural Health team in their quest for providing best-in-class care for our patients!
As communicated at the last town hall meeting, we were planning to launch GHK’s first satellite clinic, Gleneagles Medical Clinic Central, Hong Kong (GMC), in the first quarter of 2019. I am pleased to share with you that DOH’s approval has been recently received and the clinic is set to serve patients from 1 March. The satellite clinic provides general and specialist outpatient consultation and health screening services. This clinic is our first step in extending the geographical reach of our services, and we hope to progressively develop it into a clinic feeder network for GHK, which is one of our strategic priorities under the “Growth” pillar.
Since September 2017, I have been having informal tea sessions with colleagues from different departments, during which we discuss about what they think about the hospital, issues that are hindering our colleagues from delivering the best service, suggestions they have on enhancing patient experience, what improvements the hospital is making to address the issues etc. In the recent sessions, I noted that many of the topics raised are largely in line with the key results of the Group’s Employee Engagement Survey which all staff were invited to participate in last year. Leveraging the survey results, each department has been asked to incorporate in its department plan initiatives that will specifically address the improvement areas reflected in the results. We will be sharing with you the results and the plans in place to close the gaps identified at the next town hall meeting.
GHK will celebrate its 2nd anniversary on 21 March and we will mark this special day with staging our annual dinner. I am aware that colleagues from various departments have been putting their heads together to come up with an array of performances, games and activities. It’s promising to be a great event! I hope that you will be able to join us on this memorable occasion and I look forward to having an evening of joy and fun with you all.

We are excited to share with you that GHK’s Behavioural Health ward, also named as the “Daylily Ward”, is officially launched on 28 February, making us the first, and currently the only, private hospital in Hong Kong that offers inpatient psychiatry service! Complementing the service provided by our existing Behavioural Health Clinic, the new ward takes care of patients with mild psychiatric conditions who are in stable physical conditions and do not require acute medical treatments. Our experienced team of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses is all set to provide patients with best-in-class care and treatment journey.
Congratulations to the team of Daylily Ward on bringing the new service up and running!

After two years of operation, GHK is expanding its services into the heart of the city!
“Gleneagles Medical Clinic Central, Hong Kong”, being GHK’s first satellite clinic, is set to open on 1 March 2019. Located in Asia Standard Tower in Central, the new clinic provides a range of services including general and specialist outpatient consultation, health screening services, vaccination etc. With the new clinic, patients can enjoy seamless referrals and follow-up consultations between clinic and hospital.
Served by a team of general practitioner and medical specialists covering Cardiology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, General Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Orthopaedics etc, clinic patients can be referred to GHK for further diagnostic investigations and treatments where necessary. The satellite clinic also brings additional value to GHK patients as patients now enjoy the additional option of receiving follow-up consultations in many disciplines at the clinic in Central in a seamless manner.

Unwind and connect at “Friday Happy Hour”

|
|
|
The first “Friday Happy Hour” was held at the beautiful landscape garden on 5/F on 22 February as one of our staff engagement initiatives. Colleagues took the chance to unwind with some light refreshments and had relaxing conversations with different departments under the warm spring breeze. The gathering will be arranged every two months and all staff are welcome to join. See you at the next “Happy Hour”!

Sending warm wishes to staff at Chinese New Year
|
|
|
GHK ushered in the Year of the Pig with fun and engaging celebration party with over 300 colleagues on 1 February!
There was joy in the air as participants received red couplets lovingly prepared by our talented colleagues. Special thanks to Ms Doris Choi, Senior Manager of Radiotherapy & Oncology Department, for agreeing to craft the couplets with her honed skills in Chinese calligraphy. Colleagues also spent blissful moments together at a DIY ornament workshop and game booths while enjoying traditional festive savouries such as rice cakes and sesame balls that symbolise prosperity and happiness.
A Chinese New Year celebration would not be complete without fortune money! Our CEO Mr Dirk Schraven paid visits to all departments with red packets and his personal New Year wishes for all colleagues.
May the New Year bring good health and success to everyone at GHK!
