Dear Colleagues,
Since the launch of the COVID-19 vaccination programme in late February, more than 1.3 million doses of vaccine have been administered in Hong Kong. Nonetheless, many remain hesitant about getting vaccinated and take a wait-and-see approach. In our staff survey on vaccination conducted last month, the results of which were also shared with you at the last recent Town Hall, it appeared that side effects and clinical test data of the vaccines were among their top concerns, followed by the convenience of the location of a vaccination centre. To help staff understand better the vaccines, and hence make informed decisions, our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Department has recently published a series of short videos in which our IPC Officer Prof Seto Wing-hong and Pharmacy Department addressed the common concerns and doubts raised by our colleagues. These clips have been shared with you via email and the Intranet. Prof Seto has also shared in a webinar insights into some of the much-discussed topics including the making of the vaccines, how the vaccine works, vaccine safety, etc. You are most welcome to watch the four video clips on our Facebook Page: facebook.com/GHK.Hospital
Those of you who have been with GHK for some time may already be quite familiar with Parkway Pantai, the healthcare group behind us, but may not be so with our parent group IHH Healthcare. As the healthcare networks under IHH have been expanding in different parts of the world, the Group has undergone a brand consolidation exercise earlier this year with IHH Healthcare to be used as the single corporate brand. GHK takes pride in being part of a global healthcare group empowered by 80 hospitals in 10 countries, and I invite you to watch this clip https://youtu.be/VwRn0jtFntQ to know more about IHH’s purpose and values.
Our contribution to the community goes beyond providing excellent healthcare services, and as much as we could, we actively demonstrate social responsibility through protecting our environment. On top of joining the EcoDrive’s eye treatment product container recycling campaign earlier, we have collaborated with a local recycler to allow our colleagues to have their glass and plastic containers recycled while staying home. The recycled items from our staff will be counted towards the total recycling quantity under GHK. Please support this programme and start recycling now!
The recent emergence of local COVID-19 infections involving mutant strains has reminded us of the importance of staying alert at all times. With the Government’s recent announcement on the re-launch of the Hong Kong-Singapore air travel bubble scheme for late May, let’s continue to fight against the virus, consider getting vaccinated, and hopefully, we can pick up our travel plans soon!
Dr Kenneth Tsang
Chief Executive Officer

Innovative hypertension care programme via telemedicine

GHK further leverages innovation and technological development to meet patients’ needs with the recent launch of a hypertension care programme with Hong Kong Telecom and FWD Hong Kong. The innovative programme uniquely combines face-to-face and teleconsultation through the online platform of DrGo, providing hypertension patients with comprehensive support including medical and dietary advice, regularly remote blood pressure monitoring and door-to-door medication delivery.
The concept of combining remote monitoring of blood pressure with teleconsultation helps enhance patients’ self-awareness of their health conditions, while empowering them to play a more active role in the management of their health. The care programme is a showcase of better chronic disease management via innovative use of technology.

With the objective of providing a comprehensive healthcare experience to customers, this latest Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme rider plan is launched to offer customers affordable “full reimbursement” GHK’s medical packages, combined with wellness services of clients’ own choices.
Under the newly-launched service, a full reimbursement is guaranteed for diagnostic or surgical procedures performed under over 240 of our all-inclusive medical packages. Customers will also have exclusive access to annual health check-ups and healthcare services of their own choice, including eye care scheme, nutritionist counselling, etc, provided by GHK or Gleneagles Medical Clinic Central.

GHK has recently collaborated with local recycler Baguio to allow staff to recycle glass and plastic containers while staying at home via the iRecycle Programme.
Simply download the iRecycle mobile App (adding “GHK” after your name during registration), and when a certain number of glass and/or plastic containers have been collected, make an appointment for a door-step collection by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to the service provider. The iDollar collected via recycling will allow you to redeem an exciting range of rewards.
