Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to your hard work and collaborative efforts, our hospital has continued to make sound progress and deliver excellent results on various fronts.
Most of you would have noted our newly-renovated outpatient Pharmacy, which, in its bright and refreshing look, has resumed normal operation last week. The upgrading has brought about a more efficient and patient-friendly environment. Provisions such as brighter lighting, clearer signage and microphone system help make medication pickup a more efficient process, while the facelifted medication counselling room serves to enhance patient experience during in-depth drug counselling sessions. The improved working benches and counters also provide our pharmacists a safer and more comfortable work environment. Our Pharmacy is poised to bring even better and more efficient services to our patients. Kudos to the team for managing the project whilst upholding high-quality service for our patients during the work period!
Introducing more innovative and effective treatment options for patients has always been an ongoing commitment at GHK. We have recently achieved another great milestone with our Joint Replacement Centre. With its introduction of the innovative robotic-arm assisted knee replacement surgery, we are able to offer patients enhanced surgical precision and safety, less pain, quicker recovery and improved implant survivorship. Next month, our Operating Theatre team will also be welcoming the mobile 3D C-arm imaging device, with which orthopaedic and vascular surgeries can be performed with even higher precision. This advance system is expected to bring along less invasive procedures, improved surgical outcomes, shorter hospital stay and higher patient satisfaction. Going forward, we will continue to explore the introduction of innovative technologies and advance equipment in various service areas to cater to the needs of more patients and expand our capabilities.
Recent updates from the Government revealed that some of the current COVID-19 vaccine stocks are due to expire in mid-August this year. And given the tight supply globally, it is uncertain as to whether there will be sufficient replenishments within the year. While some who have not yet been inoculated may still have doubts about the efficacy of vaccines, the viral variant cluster emerged at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore early this month tells us that vaccination has been an effective means of protection. Among people who had received full doses of the vaccination were either asymptomatic or exhibited mild symptoms with antibodies detected. Though vaccination does not prevent one from being infected completely, the least it could do is to safeguard us from having a severe infection.
For the sake of yourself and your family, I hope that you will consider getting vaccinated soon!
