Message from CEO

Dear Colleagues,

Let me start off with my warm welcome to our Chief Operating Officer Dr Billy Chiu who joined the GHK family earlier this month! A specialist in Family Medicine, Dr Chiu has more than twenty years of clinical experience in both public and private sectors. Through the years, Dr Chiu has devoted himself to the development of primary healthcare and medical education. Dr Chiu will be overseeing the daily clinical operations of GHK, spearheading continuous operational and quality improvements, as well as driving service development in family medicine, digital health and related services, which are pivotal to the sustainable and long-term growth of the hospital. With the support from Dr Chiu, I am confident that GHK will grow even stronger and become one of the best hospitals in the city.

In the past few years, we have been developing different Centres of Excellence to provide patients with advanced specialist services and personalised treatments. Recently, our Maternal Fetal Medicine Centre has been put into service, offering comprehensive antenatal diagnosis, assessment and treatment for high-risk pregnant women and their unborn babies. Launching more Centre-based services will continue to be one of the major directions of our hospital’s future development, we will actively bring in more experts and introduce the latest treatment protocols to further enhance our capabilities in performing highly-specialised procedures and build our reputation for clinical excellence.

At GHK, we value every member of our staff and support them to thrive professionally and personally. Apart from subsidising colleagues to join local or overseas training programmes, our parent company IHH Healthcare launched the Learning Management System (LMS) last year to provide staff in different markets with online learning courses covering a suite of topics. I hope that you will make good use of this learning platform and enrich yourself with the knowledge and skills to help you excel and advance in your career. If you have any suggestion or recommendation to make on the training courses, I encourage you to liaise proactively with Human Resources such that the courses are relevant and practical to you.

With your concerted effort, GHK has been able to uphold reliable and high standard of care while launching various new services amid the pandemic. As a token of gratitude for your hard work, especially the outstanding growth achieved in various areas during the first half of the year, red packets were given to all staff earlier in the month. I look forward to continuing working closely and celebrating more new highs with you all!

New service to take care of high-risk mums and babies

GHK has recently launched another Centre of Excellence, the Maternal Fetal Medicine Centre, to provide comprehensive and interdisciplinary care for women and their unborn babies throughout pregnancy. Led by a team of Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialists, the Centre offers multidisciplinary care including a wide range of antenatal screening and diagnosis, specialist assessment and treatment for women experiencing conditions related to high-risk pregnancy such as fetal abnormalities, obstetric complications or chronic health problems.

GHK Service Week - Together LEADing in Service

Following the official launch of the inaugural IHH Service Week on 23 August across all hospitals under IHH Healthcare, GHK also staged its “GHK Service Week” to promulgate the 5-Ups service culture, and celebrate our continuous effort and achievements in delivering excellent healthcare services.

Throughout the Service Week, a range of activities were hosted to help staff enrich their understanding of our service culture, gain practical tips from field experts on how to delight customers, learn new skills at customer training workshops, and showcase our appreciative culture through sending cards with thankful messages among staff. Colleagues also had great fun playing booth games and quizzes to win fabulous prizes!

Coaching and Mentoring Programme –
Nurturing all-rounded leaders

To further equip supervisory staff with the knowledge and skills in becoming stronger leaders, our Human Resources team launched the Coaching and Mentoring Programme in May this year. Participated by a number of department heads and deputies as mentors and colleagues from clinical and non-clinical teams as mentees, the three-month programme aims to strengthen participants’ capabilities in leadership, influencing skills, and productivity coaching.

In a recent closing session of the programme, the mentors, and mentees and hospital management took the opportunity to reflect on the learnings and how these may be applied to benefit their professional development.

Thank-You for your amazing support to
GHK 20-second Charity Fundraising Challenge!

With active participation from across many departments, the inaugural “GHK 20-second Charity Fundraising Challenge” raised a total of HK$57,000 for the Children’s Cancer Foundation!

The three-week charity fundraising programme received overwhelming response from over 70 colleagues including hospital management, colleagues from various departments and doctors, who flexed their muscles and demonstrated their skilfulness when they took on the different challenges. A heartfelt appreciation to everyone who have helped make this meaningful initiative a great success!

Let’s enjoy a recap of the keen support from our colleagues!
