5th anniversary staff sharing series – “My memorable moments at GHK”
Message from CEO

Dear Colleagues,

GHK has taken another step forward in expanding our service networks in the community via the recent opening of Humansa Medical Imaging Centre, our latest collaborative project with Humansa. Led by an experienced medical team from our Radiology Department, the Centre offers an extensive range of medical imaging services. Together with our existing Gleneagles Medical Clinic and the cardiology satellite clinic scheduled to operate in the second half of this year at New World Tower, we will be able to provide more seamless and comprehensive services in the Central district.

We take a multi-pronged approach to show our care to staff. We listen to your voice and act upon it to create a happy workplace where you can grow with us. Following the loyalty bonus offered in the past two years, we will be bringing to you next year the Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF) Scheme through which GHK will make an additional voluntary contribution for all staff on top of the Mandatory Provident Fund, helping you devise a better retirement saving plan. I’m also pleased to share that more staff benefits are being evaluated, these include enhancing medical benefits, increasing the types of paid leaves, and setting up an education fund for staff and their children, which we hope, will help enhance everyone’s sense of belonging at GHK.

With Care. For Good. as the new corporate strategy announced amid its 10th listing anniversary, IHH Healthcare has launched a series of celebratory initiatives including the Time Capsule contest, and Pledge For Good which encourages staff to pledge to care for Patients, People, Public and Planet. A Care. For Good. video joined by staff from different regions is also being produced to encapsulate the purpose and vision of this new strategy. My appreciation to those of you who participated in the filming to showcase GHK’s professional care and services. Meanwhile, we are stepping up our effort in protecting the environment through participating in the Government’s food-waste-to-energy programme and targeting to set up renewable energy power facilities such as a solar photovoltaic system and EV-charging stations at our carpark within the year.

Despite the stabilising fifth wave, the different infection clusters noted in the community remind us that we must continue to stay alert and vigilant. With the third stage of the Vaccine Pass coming into effect, I appeal to colleagues who have yet to receive the third dose to take the shot as early as possible to give additional protection to yourself and your loved ones. We have also increased the vaccination quota for staff to get vaccinated at GHK from today until 10 June. If you are ready for the third jab, I strongly encourage that you make the best use of this extra convenience!

Chief Executive Officer

Extending the reach of our services with Humansa

GHK has further reached out to serve the community via partnering with Humansa Medical Imaging Centre which has come into service this month in the heart of Central.

The imaging service is provided by a team of experienced radiologists, radiographers, sonographers and registered nurses from GHK. The Centre offers a spectrum of imaging services including X-ray, ultrasound, bone densitometry (DEXA), 3D mammogram, computed tomography (CT) scan, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to meet different diagnostic needs and facilitate fast and accurate diagnoses.

Through this service extension, we strive to make quality healthcare more accessible to more people.

A tribute to our frontline heroes on International Nurses Day!

In celebration of this year’s International Nurses Day, IHH Healthcare honours our nurses with a light-hearted video (link) joined by senior leaders and country heads including our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang, hoping to delight our frontline heroes in different parts of the world. Locally at GHK, our CEO Dr Tsang and COO Dr Billy Chiu visited individual wards and clinics with dainty gift boxes to thank our nurses on this special day.

To all our nurses, a big thank-you for your admirable commitment to the professional care of patients!

My five “Mosts” at GHK
Grace Hui | Nurse Manager (Nursery / NICU / SCBU / PICU)

The kindest
Before joining GHK, I had spent dozens of years as a nurse in public hospitals which are very different from where I am now. GHK is like one of those friendly British small towns where people from different departments know each other by names and we always greet one another when we meet in different corners of the hospital.

The most incredible
A few years back, we needed to open our own Lactation Clinic, and despite that it was all from scratch, it only took us one month to have the clinic up and running! I attribute this incredible accomplishment to the close collaboration among different teams and departments. From identifying a suitable location, arranging furniture, to devising the workflows, it was a show of wonderful teamwork!

The proudest
A mum-to-be was to undergo an early delivery due to the presence of a health condition. Understanding that the parents were anxious, we specially arranged for them a pre-visit to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), hoping to give them some extra peace of mind.

The baby was safely delivered by C-section and immediately after, the mother was arranged to undergo a surgery. I was very proud to see that, under the excellent care of the multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses, the mother recovered well and the baby gained weight steadily.

The most thankful
I am truly thankful to my supervisor who always backs me up with trust. When I was preparing the enrolment for the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative, my supervisor said to me, “Go ahead with what you know is right. And if you need any support, I will be here for you.” I was deeply moved by this and indeed, we had every support that was needed!

I also feel obliged to thank my colleagues for being so supportive and committed to taking care of our newborns and mums no matter how tied up they are.

The words that I wish to share most
“Make sure that staff come to work joyfully and that they know patients are in good hands when they are off for the day” is the way to building a great team spirit!
