Dear Colleagues,
Year 2022 marks not only our 5th anniversary but also the first time that we present our Five Years of Service Award to our colleagues. A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of celebrating this great moment with about 300 “GHK pioneers” who have been members of this big family for five years. Building something from scratch is never an easy task, and I believe the drive behind that was their passion, perseverance and a strong will to succeed. While we cannot thank our colleagues enough for the hard work and contributions they have made for GHK, I hope they like that gift we have especially designed and prepared for them and they will keep it as a memento. As we move on to our next development stage, I look forward to celebrating more five years of service with all of you!
As one of the research sites of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), our active participation in clinical research and trials has been ongoing. We are pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the continuous research and development of COVID-19 vaccines, and earlier this month, we collaborated with SINOVAC and the HKU Clinical Trials Centre to kick off a clinical trial of an Omicron-specific inactivated vaccine for booster use in Hong Kong. This clinical trial, led by HKU’s medical research team, is in sound progress at GHK.
We probably would have noticed the bright and newly-renovated Clinic B which is now in a better shape to meet the increasing demand for our specialist outpatient services. Through combining and re-designing Clinics A, B and C, the new clinic brings to our patients a more spacious environment and a more work-efficient layout for our colleagues to deliver even better service experiences.
Amid the steadily rising number of COVID-19 cases locally, we have continued with our risk reviews, ensuring that our policies and measures will allow patients to receive the best possible care from us without compromising the safety of our staff, patients and visitors. In light of the recent situation, the authorities have re-opened some of the holding centres for elderly patients with mild symptoms, including the Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre for which GHK has urgently set up a medical service team to provide support. I send my appreciation to our colleagues and doctor volunteers for their swift and professional support to the initiative.
To protect ourselves in the changing situations, please be reminded to continue to stay alert and vigilant at all times. And if you need any support in your work fighting the virus, please voice out and we will be there for you.
