Message from Chief Executive Officer

Dear colleagues,

The International Nurses Day on 12 May gave us one of the best opportunities in the year to express our thankfulness to all our nurses for their dedication and resilience, even during some of the most challenging times. Their qualities were also manifested by the many touching stories received from our recent “Uniquely Yours” social media campaign. I was particularly pleased to learn that some of the stories were about patients’ warm experiences with our nurses here at GHK. Also received through the campaign were some wonderful ideas on how we may make healthcare services more personalised. We will be reviewing the feasibility of these as we strive to push our service quality to the next level.

Even though we are still a young hospital, we need to continuously improve ourselves to cater for patients. On this, our Radiology Department has welcomed its third CT scanner. Upon completion of some final tuning, the scanner is set to become operational in June. Renovation of our Dialysis Centre on 1/F is also well underway to provide extra space for more beds and dialysis machines. We are looking forward to putting in operation a more spacious and comfortable Dialysis Centre towards Q3 this year.

We have been seeing a rebound of mainland patients in the past few months as Hong Kong returns to normality and the border reopens. With your can-do spirit and hard work, we were able to continue to deliver excellent care for all our patients despite the rising patient volume. Our re-activation of service promotion to mainland patients is expected to drive even more demand, but please be assured that we have continued to actively recruit new staff to support you and to ensure that our quality care will not be compromised.

I hope you had taken the time to join the recent IHH Global Town Hall during which our Group Chief Operating Officer Mr Joe Sim highlighted the Group’s strategic direction on sustainability. Locally, we have also started fostering staff’s understanding of this group-wide commitment through the means of circulating an animation video and hosting an online quiz on our sustainability framework and goals. Going forward, we hope to invite you as our partners as we roll out other initiatives to promote a more sustainable world!

Warm regards,

Exchanging knowledge and insights at Asia Summit on Global Health once again

GHK participated in the Asia Summit on Global Health for the third time as the event’s Future Private Health Partner. The Summit connected senior government officials, business leaders, service professionals, health innovators, academics and researchers to exchange insights and explore opportunities on the dynamic development of the healthcare sector at a global level.

Our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang shared his insights into global trends such as health innovation and research and development collaboration at one of the panel discussion sessions which focused on healthcare innovation in the Greater Bay Area. He also shared the hospital’s current efforts in participating in clinical research on the development of vaccines, drug and medical equipment. GHK also took the opportunity to connect with and learn from healthtech start-ups which offer different innovation healthcare solutions.

IHH Global Town Hall 2023

This year’s IHH Global Town Hall was staged and livestreamed to a few thousand staff across multiple locations on 15 May. Themed “Creating Our Sustainable Future Together”, Group Chief Operating Officer Mr Joe Sim explained the Group’s “Care. For Good.” sustainability strategy and targets under the pillars namely Care for Patients, Care for People, Care for Public and Care for Planet. Questions from colleagues who joined physically and online were individually addressed by our Group COO.

The town hall was wrapped up by an inspiring song presented by Mr Sim and our talented nurses to show appreciation to our colleagues in different parts of the world for their dedication, faith and resilience during the difficult times in the past few years.

For colleagues who were not able to join in, please watch the replay in the links below:

Hats off to our frontline heroes on International Nurses Day!

IHH Healthcare honoured our nurses in different parts of the world on International Nurses Day with a special video joined by senior leaders and market heads, including our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang. The video was fun to watch, but it also brought an important message that the unique qualities of human touch and empathy our nurses possess can never be replicated or replaced by AI or technology.

At GHK, Dr Tsang took the opportunity to send appreciation to nurses with thoughtful gifts. As part of the celebration, the Long Service Awards and the Excellent Mentor Awards were presented to recognise their devoted service and great contribution to nurturing nursing professionals.

To all our nurses, thank you for your care and compassion that have touched and healed the lives of many!

Aspiring to contribute to a more sustainable world

Congratulations to colleagues who were the first 20 to get all answers correct in the quiz on GHK’s sustainability goals for 2023

Riding on the Group’s sustainability framework comprising Patients, People, Public and Planet, GHK has established a set of sustainability goals for this year through which we strive to build a better world for us and for future generations.

Look out for more information and activities to come as we make strides on the sustainability journey together!

Living up to the “Uniquely Yours” spirit

Our 6th anniversary social media campaign “Uniquely Yours” received overwhelming responses from about 280 participants contributing more than 500 stories and suggestions!

The stories encapsulated the memorable “Uniquely Yours” healthcare experiences the participants had, and you will be proud to know that some of them are the warm encounters they had with our colleagues. It is not difficult to note, in these sharing, that small gestures and thoughts are often deeply felt and appreciated by patients and their families.

Stay tuned to some of the winning stories which we will be sharing with you soon!
