Dear colleagues,
We had a good start of the month with the wining of the Outstanding Gold Award at the Privacy-Friendly Awards 2023, organised by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data. This achievement is attributed to the continuous effort made by our Privacy Protection team and all staff who also play an active role in helping to ensure the proper handling of personal data. Let's keep up the good work!
The recent IHH Quality Summit 2023 was proven again a great platform for all markets to learn and exchange with each other the latest knowledge, innovation and best practices in healthcare, and to recognise our quality champions. Congratulations to our two colleagues in Ward 6A for winning the IHH Patient Safety Award (Best Catch) and IHH Service Excellence Award! We also put our hands together for our Radiology Department and Service Excellence Department for gaining a place in the top three finalists of the IHH Quality Award (Service Excellence) with the project of reducing ultrasound scanning turnaround time. Well done teams!
Patient safety has always been a key component of quality of care. To enhance the fall prevention awareness among staff, patients and carers, we staged our inaugural “Fall Prevention Awareness Week” took the occasion to recognise our Nursing teams which achieved outstanding performance in achieving a zero fall rate. It was great to see your active participation and support during the week. I also send my thankfulness to all Nursing teams for their commitment and continuous effort in instilling a strong patient safety culture at GHK.
After an unexpectedly long relocation to allow the setting up of the Community Vaccination Centre, we welcomed back our Chemotherapy Centre on 1/F of Tower B earlier this month. Throughout the past couple of years, our team stayed highly vigilant and ensured continuity of professional care for our cancer patients. With the Centre now back to its purpose-built venue, I am confident that our oncologists and nurses are poised to continue to provide our patients with the best care and experience.
There is no better time of the year to prepare ourselves for the upcoming influenza season. I hope that you have taken the chance to learn more about the importance of flu vaccination at the staff forum hosted by our Infection Prevention and Control team. Please do look out for more details on the staff vaccination arrangement.
On this special day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, I wish you all and your family a wonderful time enjoying the reunion and the full moon!
Warm regards,

A celebration of quality and excellence at IHH Quality Summit 2023
|
|
|

Themed “The Future of Care”, this year’s IHH Quality Summit was held on 21 and 22 September in Singapore. The inspiring event brought together colleagues from IHH’s network to exchange knowledge on clinical adoption of health technologies and the way these technologies help raise the bar of service quality. We were delighted to have shared at the Summit our experience in the realms of quality, safety and risk management, service excellence, IT innovation and operation excellence.
A big congratulations to our Registered Nurse Lam Chung-yan and Healthcare Assistant Wong Sze-mun at Ward 6A for winning the IHH Patient Safety Award (Best Catch) and IHH Service Excellence Award respectively. Chung-yan was recognised with her outstanding professionalism and attentiveness in safeguarding drug safety by identifying a possible medication error. Another awardee Sze-mun demonstrated exceptional care and empathy in her arranging of a celebration of an elderly patient’s last birthday, filling his last days with fond experiences.
A round of applause also to our Radiology and Service Excellence teams for the project of reducing ultrasound waiting time which was placed among the top three finalists in the IHH Quality Award (Service Excellence)!
