Message from Chief Executive Officer

Dear Colleagues,

We started off the new year by putting our aspiration to “Care. For Good.” into action. I was delighted to have spent a beautiful Sunday morning with over 80 colleagues and their families in the Walk for Millions which took place on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, supporting community organisations that serve families and children in need. A week later, we cheered for our “GHK athletes” who formed teams to participate in the Green Power Hike while contributing to green education work. Congratulations to our doctors’ team on winning the Team Champion in the 50-km race!

I hope you were able to watch the recent annual Global Town Hall. As I shared in the panel session, Gleneagles is progressively expanding its service network and just three months after the launch of the first Gleneagles Healthcare (GHC) clinic in Wong Chuk Hang, we are actively preparing for the opening of another GHC clinic in South Horizons. As we continue to build this new clinic chain, we hope to make high-quality primary care services more accessible to the community and further strengthen our foothold in Hong Kong Island South. In addition, our new and expanded Dialysis Centre was put into service earlier this month. Designed to raise our patient care to the next level, the Centre is expected to allow us to serve more patients who are looking for excellent dialysis service. Thank you teams for your professionalism and great effort to make these happen! 

In tandem with achieving growth, we continue to work closely with the Government to support initiatives that protect the health of all. In response to the latest development of the COVID-19 variants, we have been preparing for the setting up of a COVID-19 Vaccination Station at GHK Theatre to provide XBB inoculation service for the high-risk priority groups. Our cross-departmental team is coordinating with the relevant authorities on the operational arrangements, with a target to start running the service next month.

Year 2024 will be another busy, yet exciting and promising one for us as we will embark on various projects, further leverage our unique strengths and expertise, and build an even stronger and more cohesive team. Whilst we are putting together the necessary resources, I call for your continued support to help bring to our patients more personalised care and build Gleneagles into an even stronger brand this year and beyond.

With the auspicious Year of the Dragon fast approaching, I wish you all and your family good health, happiness and prosperity!

IHH Global Town Hall 2024

The energetic IHH Global Town Hall held in Kuala Lumpur was livestreamed to all operating markets with a few thousands of staff joining online on 18 January.

Themed “ACE it”, the town hall featured a sharing by Group Chief Executive Officer Dr Prem Kumar Nair on major milestones different markets had achieved over the past year. This was followed by a panel session in which market leaders, including our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang, discussed the initiatives taken on board under the “Align”, “Challenge” and “Empower” (“ACE") framework in their respective markets, and addressed on the spot questions collected from staff.

Welcoming our new Dialysis Centre!

After months of hard work by different teams, we celebrated the opening of our new Dialysis Centre earlier this month!

Relocated on 1/F of Tower A, the beautifully-fitted Dialysis Centre provides 15 beds, isolation rooms and facilities designed to take care of the needs of all dialysis patients include those with hepatitis B. Congratulations to our Dialysis team which is poised to continue to provide excellent care and service experience for our patients!

Elevating patient safety and care

The second Audit Conference was held earlier at which colleagues exchanged thoughts and yielded insights into enhancing safety protocols and service standards and optimising patient care.

In pursuit of service excellence and continuous improvement in patient safety, departments shared their findings of clinical audits conducted throughout the year in the realms of safety handling of acupuncture treatment in Chinese Medicine, compliance with paediatric fall prevention, triage process, and more.

Staff join hands to care for our community and planet

We made a meaningful start of the year by supporting the city's signature charity walk hosted by the Community Chest. It was great to see over 80 staff and their family members joining the Walk for Millions which took place on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, raising funds for community organisations that serve families and children in the city.

In the same month, four teams of GHK doctors and staff spent another energetic weekend competing in the 10-km, 25-km and 50-km race at the Green Power Hike, a popular annual event that raises funds for green education. The hike was made a special one with our doctors’ team winning the 50km Team Champion in the race! Congratulations to the winning team!
