Dear Colleagues,
Many of you may have spotted from the recent news that we have launched our Gleneagles Clinical Trials Centre with some of you also joining its unveiling ceremony. To us, the opening of the Centre marks an important step forward in enhancing our capability in fostering the development of clinical research in Hong Kong. We will be focusing on oncology-related projects initially, but it is our hope that the Centre will expand into other clinical specialties and areas as we continue to collaborate with researchers, biotech companies and healthcare institutions to explore different innovative projects. With the support of HKU, I am confident that more research outcomes will be translated into new and effective treatment solutions and bring new hope to more patients. My sincere thanks to colleagues and teams who have assisted in the different stages of preparation for the Centre!
Another happy news I would like to highlight to you is that GHK has recently become a qualified training site of the American Heart Association (AHA) International Training Centre at HKUMed. Being a training site allows us to deliver a range of AHA basic and advanced cardiovascular life support training to our doctors and nurses who will in turn be trained to become certified instructors to train other healthcare staff. With empowering more people with life-saving skills being the key purpose of the initiative, I also look forward to extending the training to the community through offering HeartSaver courses to members of the public as the training team develops.
For those of you who joined the IHH’s annual Quality Summit held in India earlier this month, I hope you have found it a great occasion to connect with colleagues from our different operating markets and also to engage in some active knowledge exchanges on quality excellence with all the innovative minds. At this year's Summit, we have all the reasons to be proud of our colleagues as we celebrate our winning of a total of three Team and Individual awards in recognition of their outstanding service and clinical excellence and service improvement projects. My congratulations to our winning teams on these remarkable achievements! Your contributions are poised to help further raise our patient care and service quality, so thank you everyone!
Ahead of the upcoming flu season, I cannot stress enough the importance of getting well protected, especially when most of us often need to access clinical areas on a daily basis. Similar to previous years, we have arranged flu vaccination for you, so please look out for the details of this free service to be launched shortly.
Warm regards,
