Dear Colleagues,
21 March marks GHK’s birthday – we are turning eight! It was our great pleasure to have the opportunity to thank you in person with sweet treats and we hope these had brought a bit of sweetness amid your busy day. Up next will be our 8th Anniversary Town Hall and Celebration. We will be welcoming our Group CEO Dr Prem Kumar Nair to this special occasion when he will speak to us on IHH’s latest development and strategy while I will share more about GHK’s role in IHH’s transformation and growth journey. I look forward to seeing you there!
We remain committed to adopting innovative and advanced treatment solutions. Recently, we have taken another significant step by being Asia’s first private hospital to introduce Histotripsy, a transformative, non-invasive technology that uses high-intensity ultrasound to destroy cancer cells. The treatment is currently offered for liver cancer patients, and we believe this treatment can benefit more patients should its application be extended to other types of cancer in future. As part of this momentum, we collaborated with HSBC Life and Bowtie to include Histotripsy treatment in their relevant plans, allowing more patients to receive this advanced treatment with extra peace of mind. Leveraging this new treatment, GHK is also poised to continue to build a reputation for advanced treatments among patients in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and nearby regions.
As a strategy to expand our reach in the GBA, we continue to explore and deepen collaborations with Mainland healthcare organisations. Earlier on, GHK signed collaboration agreements with four hospitals under Fosun Health in the GBA to address cross-border healthcare needs focusing on areas including patient referrals, specialty services, and more.
We appreciate your feedback shared in the IHH Employee Engagement Survey conducted last October. I am glad to know that there was an impressive 94% participation rate from our Hong Kong colleagues. We care about your development, well-being and workplace experience, which is why we have implemented various initiatives to enhance your workplace. The survey revealed that nearly 90% of employees plan to continue to develop their career at GHK, and 90% consider that they collaborate with colleagues to get the job done. All this positive feedback is indeed a testament to our strong collaborative culture. We will review the findings and make necessary improvements to help everyone achieve their personal and professional goals at GHK. Thank you again for your unwavering commitment!
Warm regards,

GHK is excited to be the first private hospital in Asia to introduce Histotripsy treatment, the transformative and non-invasive technology that utilises high-intensity ultrasound waves to destroy tumours for liver cancer patients.
Histotripsy treatment enables doctors to eliminate tumours without any incision, radiation or needle, offering a promising alternative to traditional treatments particularly for patients who cannot undergo surgery. Compared to traditional treatments, Histotripsy treatment typically involves minimal pain and fewer side effects and complications.
To enhance patients’ access to this advanced healthcare services, GHK and Bowtie have recently collaborated to enhance the “Bowtie & Gleneagles Hospital Wellness Package”, offering relevant insured patients full reimbursement for Histotripsy treatment, which commences towards the end of March. Additionally, HSBC Life has recently upgraded its Voluntary Health Insurance Flexi Plan to offer full coverage over Histotripsy treatment benefit for liver cancer.

Contributing to medical integration in the Greater Bay Area

GHK and four hospitals under Fosun Health signed collaborative agreements earlier this month to foster the development of cross-border medical integration and development in the realms of patient referral, specialist services, healthcare management and more.
The two parties will offer patients in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) seamless referral to GHK or hospitals under Fosun Health for consultations and treatments as appropriate to cater to different healthcare needs. The collaboration is expected to create synergies, providing residents in the GBA with more comprehensive and high-quality cross-border healthcare services.

Dedicated to advancing continuous improvement in patient care and safety, GHK organised the Advanced Sedation Safety Workshop in collaboration with HKU Health System and Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists to refresh our doctors on safe practices in clinical sedation. In addition to an introductory lecture, the workshop also featured interactive and hands-on stations, problem-based discussions and simulated scenarios to deliver a fruitful learning experience.

Strengthening our bonds with the Southern District

|
As GHK celebrates its 8th anniversary milestone, we have recently hosted a gratitude dinner to thank our community partners and stakeholders in the Southern District for their ongoing support to us. The occasion has offered a connecting platform for us to further engage government representatives, NGOs, schools, community organisations and groups in Hong Kong Island South and inspire future collaborations for the benefit of residents in the district and beyond.

Empowering staff on enhancing workplace safety
Themed “A Step Further For Needle Stick & Sharps Injury”, the Staff Safety Forum was hosted for staff as part of the hospital’s wider effort in ensuring workplace safety. At the forum, staff mastered professional knowledge on topics covering incident data analysis, sharp injury prevention in GHK and more, fostering a culture of prioritising employee safety.
