Message from Chief Executive Officer

Dear Colleagues,

As you should have been informed recently, our hospital has made a special decision to raise staff pay for 2025/2026 by 2% with effect from 1 July 2025. Despite the Government
s announcement to freeze civil service pay and amid ongoing economic uncertainties, we remain committed to upholding our promise to care for our people. This increment is an expression of our appreciation for your continued dedication and unfailing support to GHK. As we continue to push ahead with various exciting initiatives, I hope to have you with us as we embark on the next phase of our growth journey.

To help keep ourselves ahead of the curve in a changing healthcare landscape, we continuously explore different ways to foster and leverage healthcare innovation and digital tech advancement to help us enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and the delivery of healthcare. Recently, IHH Healthcare North Asia established an Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AI Lab) through Gleneagles. This new platform will foster close collaboration between academia, startups, and health tech innovators, accelerating healthcare innovation and redefining the future of patient-centred care. The AI Lab will be supported by GHK and our clinic network in Hong Kong as real-world testbeds. Among the different ongoing projects, the development of an integrated smart clinic solution for our upcoming Gleneagles MediCentre in Admiralty is set to be the pilot project of the Lab.

You may have noticed a sweet and inviting aroma in our hospital lobby this week. Following months of meticulous preparation, Blissful Patisserie has now entered its soft opening phase. I warmly encourage you to visit the shop during the trial run to sample the sweet treats and experience the service firsthand. Your feedback will be invaluable to helping us enhance the overall service for our patients, visitors and colleagues.

Thank you once again for your dedication and hard work over the past six months, and I look forward to achieving even more great milestones with you in the second half of 2025.

Warm regards,

Sparking cross-sector synergy
to accelerate healthcare innovation
Committed to continuously elevating our patient care and service, we have been actively leveraging health innovations and exploring smarter healthcare solutions. As another step forward, IHH Healthcare North Asia has established an Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AI Lab) via GHK to foster collaborative innovation among academia, startups, and healthtech innovators.

The AI Lab will serve as a collaborative hub for cutting-edge AI technologies, providing a dynamic ecosystem for researchers and innovators to innovate and translate AI healthcare solutions into clinical applications. GHK and our clinic network will play a key role by serving as real-world testbeds, facilitating clinical trials, providing access to high-quality healthcare data to enable prototyping and validation of AI, and offering advanced computing infrastructure to accelerate the training of AI models.
Stepping into Wounderland
a new chapter in wound and stoma care
At GHK, we’re committed to delivering the best possible care for our patients. To further advance our clinical excellence and patient-centred care, our Nursing team has recently introduced Wounderland, a new internal publication dedicated to advancing service excellence in wound and stoma care.

Contributed by an editorial team formed by our Nursing colleagues, Wounderland features treatment strategies, product updates, case discussions and patient education tools. Also covered are upcoming training opportunities and inspiring stories from our frontline staff who are making a real difference in patient care.

The inaugural issue of Wounderland is now live on our Intranet
Promulgating financial sustainability of healthcare ecosystem

At the Healthcare Financing Summit hosted by AIA Hong Kong & Macau, Gleneagles and leaders from the insurance sector, healthcare providers, physicians and academia sparked an engaging exchange of industry experience and discussed collaborative solutions for building a high-quality, accessible and financially sustainable healthcare ecosystem.

In the discussion of price transparency and cost controlling, our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang depicted some of the initiatives such as fee estimation and all-inclusive fixed-price medical packages which aim to ensure price transparency and consistency in doctors’ fees. In addition to highlighting the importance of strong cross-sector partnerships in shaping a sustainable healthcare future, Dr Tsang shed light on the value-driven outcomes (VDO) model adopted by Gleneagles and IHH which measures patients’ outcomes against the cost of various surgeries and procedures and empowers patients to evaluate the values different doctors and hospitals bring to their care.

Elevating oncology treatment with novel surgical technologies

Striving to drive excellent clinical outcomes and personalised patient care, GHK actively introduces innovative and cutting-edge treatments, bringing more options for patients and elevating the chance of preventing and curing various diseases.

Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a high-concentration, one-time combined treatment with cytoreductive surgery for patients with primary peritoneal cancer and peritoneal metastasis originating from the malignancy of other organs. Compared to conventional systemic treatments such as chemotherapy, during HIPEC, drug solution is directly delivered into the abdominal cavity and heated and recirculated, which increases the penetration of drugs to reach and kill cancer cells, hence, causing relatively fewer side effects as the treatment is confined within the abdominal cavity.
