GHKConnect

GHK Connect is a monthly e-newsletter that brings you updates on GHK and helps staff better understand the values we embrace.

Message from CEO

Dear colleagues,

It has been an intensive period over the last weeks, not least because of the various typhoons. I have been much impressed by their amazing force! Fortunately, operations have continued smoothly, thanks to our staff maintaining shifts as required - well done and many thanks!

We remain focused on our three priorities: improve processes, attract patients and doctors, and build a service culture. As part of our efforts to attract patients, we reached agreements with two insurers for preferred referrals to our packages. We believe this is a good start of showcasing the accessibility and quality of our services to the insured. Active discussion with a few other major insurers is also in progress. We anticipate that this will help boost patient volume, so we should get our workflow and processes prepared to deliver speedy, seamless services and answer possible queries from insured patients.

In addition, we are seeking more active engagement with doctors to foster better communication and gain trust from doctors and hence increase patient volume. Following the full functioning of the Doctor’s Portal on our website, and the launch of the monthly physician newsletter, we have had our first lunch gatherings with doctors. We will arrange so on a regular basis to hear from doctors directly how we can make GHK a better place for them and explore possible collaboration that can help enhance patient volume. I ask all of you that you help promote our services to your acquaintances - we need to all do our part in bringing our hospital's services to the attention of all of Hong Kong's residents!

Lastly, we believe that it’s vital our internal culture and values are in sync with our external brand message. Staff can only deliver excellent services if they are taken good care of and embrace the same cultural values. We’ve started so through the employee survey. With the views collected, we look forward to making GHK a more desirable workplace. Please do bring your suggestions to management, via the survey or directly.

Celebrating Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre's opening
Congratulations to the team for bringing our radiotherapy services up and running!

To celebrate the opening of our Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre, colleagues from The University of Hong Kong, doctors and staff gathered at the Centre on 1 August to share the happiness of achieving another milestone in the development of our services.  The team also took the opportunity to tour the guests around the department including the “heart” of the Centre: the state-of-the-art TrueBeam linear accelerator and the CT simulator.

We look forward to the launch of more new clinical services which are in the pipeline.

Doctor For A Day extending its reach in community

Since its public appearance in June 2017, Doctor For A Day has become quite a sensation among parents and kids in Hong Kong and has been a friendly tool in helping GHK to introduce our facilities and services to the wider community including expatriate families, business partners and schools alike.

Between 18 and 20 August, a number of sessions were organised for around 600 kids of GHK staff, doctors, business partners, an international school, insurers and a bank, to give them a taste of what it is like to be a doctor.

More initiative to engage our doctors

To complement the newly launched Doctor's Portal on GHK's website, which gives doctors access to practical information including hospital policies, services, billing schemes, upcoming CME meetings, August also saw the debut of the Physician's Newsletter.

The monthly publication curates the latest happenings and development in the hospital such as doctors’ events, special services and promotions for patients, arrangements for our medical packages etc to help them understand GHK better and feel more being part of the GHK family.
