Dr Kelvin Loh
Interim Chief Executive Officer
Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital
It is with great pleasure that I meet you in this second edition of GHK Connect.
My involvement in GHK in fact started from the tender bid stage. Since then I had been participating in the planning of the project. Establishing a new hospital is indeed a challenging task, requiring a huge amount of planning and execution across all the different functions that each of you are responsible for. I would like to thank all of you for the hard work and commitment put into the project and for the sound progress achieved.
I am pleased to see the close collaboration between Hong Kong and Singapore teams which are all working towards the same goal of delivering a state-of-the-art hospital. As an international group, we place great importance in integrating our capabilities with local knowledge and expertise. To this end, I encourage everyone of you to share your views and ideas so that what we provide will be valued by patients, and that our practices will resonate with the local culture.
In the coming months, we will continue to forge ahead and work towards our next set of milestones. Same with other large and complex project commissioning, there will be issues and hiccups, and when these do arise, flag them and I assure you that we will find solutions together as a team.
With the support of Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr Lee Cheow Seng, Chief Operating Officer Dr Alexander Chiu, and the dedication of all of you, I am confident we will open a hospital that is the pride of Parkway Pantai and the people of Hong Kong.
I look forward to working closely with you.

A taste of Gleneagles Bistro
|
|
|
Staff and visitors can expect to savour an array of sumptuous dishes at the restaurant at GHK named Gleneagles Bistro when it opens.
Gleneagles Bistro will stimulate your taste buds with both Asian and Western menus, prepared by a team of award-winning chefs. Different classic, popular local dishes will be on offer according to different seasons. To spice up the menu with a Singaporean flavor, our head chef Gary travelled to Singapore to hunt for the trick of preparing authentic local cuisine including Hainanese chicken rice, Bah Kut Teh, Pepper crabs, Laksa and Satay. “We would like to bring to our customers the authentic, Singapore-style Hainanese chicken rice, and hopefully this will become our signature dish,” Gary says.

Recently, the Food and Beverage Department has organised a food tasting session for management and department representatives to sample a selection of dishes. With a view towards delivering the best, staff were invited to give scores and comments on the presentation, taste, portion etc. A big thank you to Billy, Gary, David and Kelvin for the arrangement and the delicious food!
Since providing nutritious and high-quality food is an essential part of patient care, the team will collaborate with our nutritionists to design stimulating yet healthy patient meals. “We hope to change the general perception that hospital patient food is awful,” Gary says.
During the tasting, staff also threw a surprise farewell to our CEO Dr Kok with a homemade cake!

Open house on nursing career with GHK
|
|
|
As GHK continues to recruit dedicated healthcare professionals to help us deliver excellent patient care and medical services, a nurse recruitment sharing session was held on 27 August 2016 (Saturday), attracting close to 300 participants.
During the event, participants were introduced to GHK’s core values, services, excellent work environment, advanced facilities and equipment, and our culture of putting people first. The open house also provided an opportunity for participants to talk to our managerial nurses to find out more about career opportunities and prospects at GHK. On-site interviews were also arranged for candidates. Thanks to our nursing team including our 4 assistant directors of nursing who offered help to the event and shared their valuable experiences with the participants.
The event also saw the premiere of our nurse recruitment video. A note of appreciation to our nurses from different specialties, Hoi Yee, Ranjit, Ada, Peggy and Emily, who shared with the audience how they feel about working at GHK, career development, new skills acquired, exposure and experience gained in setting up policies etc.
The video can be viewed on YouTube and GHK Facebook page. We invite you to share this video with your friends and family who might be interested in starting or furthering their nursing career with us.

A mission won’t be meaningful if we don’t live it. And it is important that what we value and aspire to achieve are promoted and realised at departmental level. The mission statements which Chemotherapy Centre has recently shared have aptly communicated not only GHK’s mission, but also Gleneagles’ brand essence.

In the statements, we go beyond providing excellent clinical services and strive to take care of patients’ and their families’ emotional, mental and psychological needs. These aspirations are in sync with Gleneagles’ essence conveyed via the tagline “On your side” that we respect our clients as our team and partners and we take care of them every step of the treatment journey.
