Dear Colleagues,
Following the launch of the Digital Subtraction Angiography Suite last month, a fully-automated vial-filling machine has also been put into service at our Pharmacy Department. This robotic system creates a safe and secure vial-filling operation, further enhancing operational efficiency and accuracy during drug dispensing. The system also allows our pharmacy colleagues to spend more time to take care of patients’ medication needs to foster greater patient satisfaction. To support our hospital development plan, we will be progressively bringing in more advanced and innovative medical equipment in the coming months, including a unit dose packaging system, a surgical robotic system and a radiotherapy linear accelerator.
Meanwhile, GHK has recently launched the Professorial Clinic in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong (HKU). Led by a team of professoriates of HKU, the clinic provides consultation services and specialist treatments for a wide spectrum of health conditions. For more complex cases which require multi-specialty services at the same time, the clinic will be able to offer them more comprehensive and one-stop support. The setting up of the clinic will also enhance the coordination among various specialist services to facilitate even smoother referral service.
Our Mixed Ward (Ward 3B) is now up and running to meet the growing service demand. Serving mainly day cases at its initial stage, the Mixed Ward will extend its service to inpatient cases as our bed capacity ramps up gradually. My heartfelt appreciation to teams that have assisted in the preparation work for this new ward which will further help fuel our growth!
Themed “Quality and Innovation: Reimagined”, the two-day IHH Quality Summit was staged last month with participation from different markets including Hong Kong. At the summit, we introduced our patient app “My Gleneagles SmartHealth”, showcasing how we leveraged digital technology to strengthen engagement with our patients and encourage them to manage their healthcare needs online. Separately, congratulations to our nurse at Critical Care Unit on winning the individual Clinical Excellence Award! She was awarded the “Patient Safety (Best Catch) Award – Individual” in recognition of her successful attempt to prevent unnecessary potassium treatment for a patient due to a suspected mislabeling of blood specimens. Let our effort for innovation and improvement continue to thrive!
Thanks to the close collaboration across various departments and the planning and coordination by Quality, Safety and Risk Management team in the past few months, as one great team, we have successfully completed the Periodic Review by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) International. While we will share with you the results when we receive them, I look forward to keeping our services on par with international standards and embracing a culture of continuous improvement with all of you.
