Message from CEO

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy a merry and safe Christmas with your family and loved ones.

You may recall that I shared with you at our recent Town Hall meeting some of the key strategic directions GHK will be taking in the coming year and beyond. With the ultimate goal of building our brand and reputation, we will focus on three areas namely customer service, client advocacy and service consistency. In 2022 you will be seeing the launch of a series of service culture promotion programmes, and other initiatives will include using tools such as patient satisfaction surveys and Total Experience Index to help us attain high level of customer advocacy. We will take a more targeted approach to ensure service consistency, focusing on areas with the lowest satisfaction level, reducing abandoned call rate, regularising 5-Ups training for staff, developing “Friends of Gleneagles” service and more. Let us all work together to nurture GHK into a brand that we will all be proud of!

We have introduced a number of innovative systems and new services over the past year, and more recently, we have further expanded our inpatient service with the opening of 5A Private Day Ward. The Ward offers various private bed classes to take care of day patients who undergo surgical interventions, endoscopic procedures, non-invasive treatments, as well as clinical investigations. My appreciation goes to colleagues who have contributed to the planning and launching of this new Ward!

I am delighted to share that the advanced Versius minimally-invasive surgical robotic system has come into service this month. The fully-articulated robotic arms and real-time high-definition three-dimensional visualisation enable surgeons to perform surgeries with superior precision and control. Just earlier this month, our team has performed the first minimally-invasive gynaecological surgery with the system at GHK. This is a great milestone for us, and we will continue with our quest to leverage the latest technology to bring unparalleled clinical outcomes for patients.

Our hospital will only be able to progress if our staff are well looked after. With this in mind, we look to make GHK a place where there is open communication, your wellbeing is taken care of, and you feel engaged. I invite you to take part in the recently-launched Internal Communications Survey to let us understand better how we may foster more effective communication with you and create an even better working environment for you.

With 2021 drawing to a close, I send you my heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable achievements you have helped GHK make amid the challenges we have faced under the pandemic! As we usher in 2022 with new hopes, I wish you and your family a healthy and prosperous New Year!

Peritoneal Malignancy Treatment Centre introduces novel intraperitoneal chemotherapy

Committed to introducing new and advanced treatments of peritoneal cancer, our Peritoneal Malignancy Treatment (PMT) Centre has recently introduced novel intraperitoneal chemotherapy procedures, including Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) and Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC), to provide more effective treatments and bring about better clinical outcomes for patients.

The first of its kind in Hong Kong dedicated to serving patients with peritoneal metastasis, our PMT Centre supported by an experienced and multidisciplinary team of experts provides patients with comprehensive diagnostic services and personalised treatments.

Introducing state-of-the-art Versius surgical robotic system

Minimally-invasive surgery is expected to become more accessible with greater clinical outcomes with the Versius surgical robotic system recently introduced at GHK. The top-notch, advanced Versius system enables surgeons to manipulate the robotic arms with greater flexibility and precision compared to manual laparoscopy surgery. Along with a high-definition three-dimensional camera on the robotic wrists, surgeons will have superb vision and clarity during operations.

With our fully-trained medical team, the system is also set to expand the range of robotic minimally-invasive surgeries available in different specialties, benefiting patients with more treatment options.

Private Day Ward now in service
Congratulations to colleagues of Private Day Ward which was officially opened on 8 December!

Located on 5/F of Tower A, the Private Day Ward helps further development of our inpatient service.  Offering various private bed classes, the Ward takes care of day patients who undergo surgical interventions, endoscopic procedures, non-invasive treatments, as well as surgical and medical investigations.

Wrapping up 2021 with Town Hall meeting

The last Town Hall meeting of 2021 was held on 13 December when we reviewed the key achievements in the quarter and shared the hospital’s development direction for 2022.

Our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang highlighted to staff that service quality and customer advocacy would be one of the hospital’s key strategic directions for the coming year and beyond. To give staff a better understanding of how the strategies would be implemented, a number of customer service initiatives to be rolled out next year were shared.

At the Town Hall, staff were also given updates on the latest arrangements and policies on managing the COVID-19 situation. Colleagues also heard from Hospital Management feedback on some of the common questions or concerns raised during regular exchanges between staff and CEO.
