Dear Colleagues, 

The Year of the Ox was a year which we should all be proud of. Growth across different services was remarkable, with the service volume in some of the areas having increased over 50% compared to the year before. This is a testament to the growing trust from our patients and doctors, and my appreciation goes to all of you. While finalising the work plans for the coming year and beyond, we are looking forward to further expanding our hospital services and service network outside our hospital, including providing wellness services with our strategic partners. 

Continuing with our quest to leverage the latest technology to enhance our services, I am delighted to share with you the introduction of 3D model printing service to our patients. In collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, recently, we have started adopting the 3D printing technology in orthopaedic surgery. The 3D printing of bone models helps doctors conduct more comprehensive pre-operative assessment, identify the most suitable surgical approach, and enhance surgical precision. We are reviewing the feasibility of extending the technology to other specialties to benefit more patients. 

The fast-spreading of the Omicron variant in the community in recent weeks reminds us that we must continue to stay vigilant. Ensuring the safety of our staff, patients and visitors remains one of our top priorities. Reviewing of our internal and external measures is ongoing, with relevant adjustment and enhancements already implemented to ensure the effectiveness of our measures and service continuity. In addition, please be reassured that we have secured sufficient stock of PPE and surgical masks for our staff to carry out their duties safely. 

The promising growth achieved, despite the challenging year we have been through, was the fruit of your hard work and devotion. As a token of our appreciation, performance-based discretionary bonus for our colleagues has been arranged. This will be followed by the second portion of loyalty bonus will also be distributed to eligible staff in April.

The IHH MD & CEO Global Town Hall was staged and livestreamed to thousands of staff across various locations including Hong Kong on 27 January.

Themed “Scaling new peaks, together”, the Global Town Hall featured a sharing by Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Dr Kelvin Loh, with Group Chief Operating Officer Mr Joe Sim and Group Chief Human Resources Officer Ms Angela Ryan joining a panel session to address staff’s questions. Staff were presented with the Group’s major milestones achieved over the past year and the strategic direction it is taking to achieve sustainable development and scale new heights for the year ahead and beyond.

The insights shared included how the Group will respond and upscale itself to the changing healthcare trends and patients’ expectations as well as the five new growth peaks for further building trust and driving sustainability. The occasion was also made an engaging one when everyone participated in games and cast their votes online.
