Dear Colleagues,  

Just earlier this month we launched our 5th anniversary-themed campaign “Uniquely yours” to celebrate the excellent care we have been providing in our first five years and the direction we embrace in growing our services and reputation. Activities on the campaign will be staged in the coming months, and I invite you all to be part of this journey of building an even more distinctive character for our GHK.   

I hope you have had fun joining in some of the many activities hosted during the Service Week themed "We Will Find A Way!”. Much more than a slogan, the theme conveys the spirit that should live in every one of us as a care provider. Our great achievement in customer service has been evident, stepping into our sixth year, we are looking to take our service quality to the next level and your active support is critical to helping GHK achieve this.  

We have reached another great milestone in the development of our cancer services with the recent arrival of the brand-new Halcyon Elite radiotherapy system. The cutting-edge system is designed to offer high-precision treatment in less time and enhanced patient comfort and safety. With streamlined system workflows and improved operational efficiency, our therapists will be able to spend more time on taking care of patients and addressing their needs.   

I have always wanted to create a conducive working environment in which all of you would enjoy working together in the GHK family. We have launched a new internal communications initiative “Speak Your Mind” through which I would do my best to address any questions, concerns or difficulties you may have at GHK via regular videos. Suggestions or views are welcome too! So if you have anything in mind, please fire away!     

We should all be proud that despite the challenging times we have been through, GHK has attained many plausible achievements which were made possible with your dedication. Following the distribution of discretionary bonus in January, the second and third portions of the loyalty bonus have also been issued to eligible staff this month as a token of our appreciation for your contribution. GHK aspires to develop itself into one of the best healthcare providers in Hong Kong, to this end, we are looking to introduce a new staff incentive such that we may have the privilege to build an even stronger team with you to help GHK realise other longer-term goals. I hope to share more details with you about the incentive next month.  

As the epidemic has shown promising signs of stabilising, I would like to send my heartfelt appreciation for your hard work in fighting COVID-19 in the past few months. The fierce fifth wave has taught us a lesson on the need to stay vigilant. Let us all continue to protect ourselves and our loved ones, and emerge from this wave with greater resilience.

Congratulations to Radiotherapy and Oncology Centre on launching an additional, top-notch equipment!

Committed to providing advanced and high-quality healthcare for patients, we recently welcomed Halcyon Elite, the brand new, cutting-edge radiation therapy system.

GHK is proud to be the city’s first private hospital to introduce this linear accelerator that delivers 100% image-guided radiotherapy. Designed to bring to oncology patients treatment with higher precision, speedier treatment and greater comfort, the system also enhances patient safety through various features including its patient verification function, collision detection technology and automated machine performance checks. With this patient-centred, state-of-the-art equipment, our patients will have access to high-quality care and stress-free treatment in less time.

As a satellite research site of the HKU’s LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed), GHK provides a hospital setting for clinical trials to help advance medical knowledge and improve patient care. In February 2022, in collaboration with HKUMed and City University of Hong Kong (CityU), our 24-hour Outpatient and Emergency Department underwent a clinical trial of a fast-track ventilation system invented by CityU to study the system’s effectiveness in protecting patients and hospital staff from possible infection of airborne diseases when isolation facilities may not be immediately available.

The clinical trial data has shown that the portable system could eliminate 98.9% of aerosol under this interim negative pressure environment within two minutes. Tested effective in minimising the risk of cross-infection in the emergency room, the system is under ongoing review for its formal implementation at GHK.

As a celebration of our first five years of caring service, we proudly present to you “Uniquely yours”, an encapsulation of the spirit GHK has embraced over the past years and the development direction it aspires to continue to take to scale new heights. In this anniversary campaign, we will be leading you through different initiatives as we communicate the essence of this aspiration to you in greater depth.
