Dear Colleagues,
We have made another step forward in expanding our service network through the recent launch of Gleneagles Pro-HEART Cardiac Centre located at New World Tower in Central. Supported by a suite of state-of-the-art equipment, the Centre provides a comprehensive range of heart health services. Strategically situated right next to Gleneagles Medical Clinic Central (GMC), patients of GMC may also be referred to the Centre for high-quality follow-ups and seamless medical experience.
We always strive to ensure that our service workflows allow us to deliver timely and efficient care for patients. Since mid-August, we have implemented a new sports injury management pathway to provide more comprehensive, one-stop medical services for patients suffering from sports injuries. Supported by a multi-disciplinary team comprising Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Orthopaedic Surgery Clinic and Rehabilitation Centre, we aim to arrange for the necessary investigation, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services for patients in a timely and personalised manner. Patients will first receive prompt treatment at our AED, followed by a treatment journey which includes imaging and screening, specialty referral, physiotherapy, etc. We will also provide patients with targeted self-care advice to facilitate their speedy recovery.
Over the past few months, several initiatives on "Uniquely yours" were launched as part of our 5th anniversary celebration and to help raise awareness of the essence of the "Uniquely yours" spirit among staff. Colleagues in different departments have in fact been going the extra mile in taking care of our patients with empathy and understanding. You might have noted that the first video portraying a short story of our F&B team with a patient has recently been premiered. Please do spend a minute or so to watch it if you have not had a chance!
In view of the ongoing epidemic situation, we have started allocating 50 beds earlier this month for non-COVID-19 patients referred from public hospitals to ease the burden on public hospitals. I would like to express my gratitude to all departments involved for your excellent teamwork which allowed us to reactivate the patient referral arrangement in such a proficient manner. Our support to the community continues. Last weekend, we became the first private hospital to provide free virtual consultation and prescription delivery services for COVID-19 elderly patients in collaboration with the Hospital Authority. Meanwhile, in addition to the holding centre at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre, we have also started providing medical care to COVID-19 elderly patients at Tin Shui Wai Sports Centre holding centre. I send you my appreciation for your continuous support in helping fight the virus!
Dr Kenneth Tsang
Chief Executive Officer

GHK collaborates with Hospital Authority to provide free teleconsultation and medication delivery for COVID-19 elderly
|
|
|
As the daily number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise, we have further strengthened our support to the community by collaborating with the Hospital Authority (HA) to provide free teleconsultation and medication delivery and counselling services to COVID-19 elderly patients.
Riding on our experience in conducting teleconsultation, we mobilised our manpower and resources swiftly and collaborated with the HA to provide timely and quality medical care for COVID-19 elderly patients, based on the patient lists provided by the HA on a daily basis.
Appreciation goes to patient support team for having the service up and running within a very short period of time, and to the various departments for their prompt and professional support.

Supporting holding centres for COVID-19 elderly patients
|
|
|
Since July, GHK has been supporting the government’s holding centre at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre by providing medical care to infected elderly patients who are asymptomatic or showing mild symptoms. In light of the continually rising number of COVID-19 cases, most recently, we have further extended our support to another holding centre at Tin Shui Wai Sports Centre.
Hats off to our dedicated teams for their selfless and devoted service to our community in fighting the epidemic!

5th anniversary staff sharing series –
“My memorable moments at GHK”
My five “Mosts” at GHK
Ricky Lau | Nurse Manager (Behavioural Health & Daylily Ward)
The most memorable
I joined the Nursing team in September 2016, serving at the Behavioural Health Clinic until February 2019 when we launched the city’s first private behavioural health ward. Since then, I became a member of the Daylily Ward Nursing team. As the first private hospital to launch private behavioural health inpatient service in Hong Kong, our team could only make reference to the relevant services at public hospitals or online resources when preparing for the service launch. Fortunately, some of our colleagues had the opportunity to gain insights from Mount Elizabeth Hospital, one of our sister hospitals in Singapore. Colleagues in Singapore shared with us lots of their valuable hands-on experience about setting up a private behavioural health ward, giving us helpful information on how to ensure patient’s safety with establishing relevant policies and incorporating additional installations to the ward.
The most challenging
To support the government’s anti-pandemic work, a community vaccination centre (CVC) was set up at GHK in 2021 to provide vaccination service for members of the public. Another Nurse Manager and I oversaw the operations of the CVC, and it was definitely an unprecedented challenge in my nursing career! From venue identification, work flow and manpower arrangement, to the inspection by the Department of Health, the process was comparable with launching a new hospital service. The few unexpected incidents that hit us at the initial stage of running the CVC also put our responsiveness and adaptability to test.
The most thankful
I would like to thank all colleagues who accommodated the many work arrangement changes during the pandemic, especially members of the CVC team who often needed to work for 12 hours during the six-month operation. I am grateful for their support and dedication to the fight against the pandemic.
The greatest teamwork
This April, I became a member of the Nursing team of the 24-hour Outpatient and Emergency Department. There was a surge in demand for emergency service and COVID-19 testing service during the fifth wave of the epidemic. Yet, the close collaboration among the Emergency Department, Clinical Laboratory, Business Office and Service Excellence allowed us to provide smooth and efficient services for patients.
The thing that I want to share with colleagues the most
Communications is always the best solution to problems.
