Message from CEO

Dear Colleagues,

Despite the many challenges faced during the past year, GHK managed to make great strides in achieving further growth of our services.

While working hard to fight the fifth wave of COVID-19, we remained steadfast in developing our services through introducing new and advanced equipment including the Versius and Mako surgical robotic systems and the new-generation radiotherapy system Halcyon. The launch of Gleneagles Pro-HEART Cardiac Centre in Central was another great milestone we achieved, and our collaboration with Humansa has also brought our medical imaging and preventive healthcare services more accessible to more patients.

As you would have noted from the latest episode of "Speak Your Mind", GHK aspires to serve the community not only through offering excellent healthcare, but also by contributing to the advancement of medical development. Over the past year, we have worked closely with The University of Hong Kong and other health and medical science institutions to conduct various clinical research and trials. As we continue to build our capability and experience in participating in clinical research, we hope that they will be translated into tangible benefits for patients and the wider community.

In support of the city’s shift to placing more emphasis on prevention-focused healthcare, we have been steadily strengthening our primary care services and building closer ties with non-governmental organisations in the Southern District. With the recent launch of the Government’s Primary Healthcare Blueprint, we anticipate that collaboration among private healthcare providers which include GHK, public healthcare sector and different district-based community units will become more and more extensive.

Going in sync with Care. For Good., the group-wide aspiration to deliver greater good to our patients, people, the public and our planet, GHK will be working towards achieving the various sustainability goals in the coming year. While we have already kick-started some of these initiatives, I look forward to your active participation in these to help build a better world together!

I wish you and your family a joyful, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Dr Kenneth Tsang
Chief Executive Officer

Promoting occupational safety and health

To foster continuous improvement in our performance in occupational safety and health (OSH), two campaigns were organised to promote the prevention of sharp injuries and the application of 5S, namely Sort, Streamline, Shine, Standardise and Sustain at workplace.

Congratulations to the winning teams who have contributed to making GHK a safer place for all!

My five “Mosts” at GHK
Diane Wong | Senior Guest Relations Officer, Service Excellence

The greatest teamwork
When the city was being hit by the fifth wave earlier this year and our manpower was tight, colleagues who were still able to attend work made their best effort to cover each other to ensure that our services were not affected. This wonderful team spirit made me a proud member of Service Excellence.

The most unforgettable
One day, a patient on wheelchair who required regular follow-ups at GHK approached the front desk with an urgent need to use the washroom, but she was unable to manage it on her own due to her health condition. Though I could have sought help from a service assistant, but I just knew that she needed me much and I assisted her without a second thought. It was quite an unforgettable experience for me.

The greatest change
A patient’s family member used to come to us with many suggestions for improvement in different aspects. For to our continuous and sincere communications and exchange of views with her, she has become one of our supporters who would even bring us refreshments when she visits. I see this a great showcase of our “Uniquely yours” service culture which touches life and transforms care!

The most challenging
I once encountered an anxious mother whose daughter was unable to attend a follow-up consultation at our clinic due to COVID-19 infection. Understanding the needs of the patient and her worried mother, we did our best to liaise with different departments, the AED team and the doctor to reach a consensus to provide care for the patient at a specially arranged area at the AED without compromising the necessary anti-pandemic measures.

The most thankful
I am thankful for the guidance and support from my fellow team mates. The trust and rapport built among us make us a strong team!
