Dear colleagues,
With Hong Kong's progressive return to normality, we were delighted to welcome back our colleagues from IHH Healthcare who visited GHK in person and joined our Town Hall meeting. At the meeting, Group Chief Operating Officer Mr Joe Sim shared the Group’s aspiration and overall direction on sustainability, while we took the opportunity to introduce to staff the sustainability goals of GHK for 2023. In the coming months, we will be engaging you on different initiatives in promulgating sustainability at GHK.
Earlier on, we invited Dean of HKUMed Professor CS Lau to share his thoughts on the progress HKUMed and GHK have made in the areas of clinical services, teaching and training, and research advancement under our unique partnership which commenced over five years ago. In addition to the need to foster more private-public partnership to enhance the quality of healthcare services and the training of healthcare professionals, we discussed how we may tap opportunities in the Greater Bay Area in terms of training for students and how we may contribute to lifting the standard of healthcare services in neighbouring regions.
Witnessed by Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between GHK and healthtech company Precision Robotics Hong Kong (PRHK) to strengthen the collaboration on clinical research of the latest robotic endoscope system developed by PRHK and foster technological innovations in healthcare. Our Operating Theatre team has been providing a strategic platform to help translate clinical research results of the endoscope system into clinical services. With the use of this top-notch surgical robot at our newly-opened Gynaecological Oncology Centre, we strive to provide even better, more accurate and advanced treatment options to our patients.
The devastating earthquake in Türkiye and Syria is particularly saddening for us with Türkiye being one of our Group’s home markets and our colleagues there are affected to different extent. Our Turkish team has been offering all forms of medical and non-medical support to the victims in different zones during these overwhelming times. Locally, we have responded to the appeal from the Turkish Consulate General in Hong Kong and initiated a donation of aid supplies from staff. Just within a weekend, we collected over a dozen of boxes of donations. My heartfelt gratitude to colleagues who have sent in support to us. Just a few days back, we initiated an additional means of donation through which GHK will make a match donation for every monetary donation made by staff to the Hong Kong Red Cross to support emergency relief work in Türkiye and Syria. I sincerely hope that we will have your extended support for this.
Dr Kenneth Tsang
Chief Executive Officer
