Message from Chief Executive Officer

Dear Colleagues,

This month, we welcomed the third clinic of Gleneagles Healthcare at Novum Place in Sai Wan! Strategically located adjacent to the MTR HKU Station, the clinic offers residents in the Central and Western District convenient access to quality and comprehensive primary healthcare services in both Western and Chinese medicine. I encourage you to make good use of the new opening offers specifically arranged for you and your families. As I shared earlier at Town Hall meeting, we will continue to explore the development of offering high-volume services in an ambulatory setting such that our hospital’s resources and manpower can be more effectively deployed to take care of the more complicated cases and procedures.

After six years of hard work, GHK has recently been accredited as a Baby-Friendly Hospital, making us the first and currently the only official baby-friendly private hospital in Hong Kong. This is definitely an achievement to be proud of! Since joining the Initiative launched by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 2018, our Nursing team has been spearheading the different stages of preparations and overcoming the many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. My heartfelt appreciation goes to Nursing, our doctors and each and every one of you for your excellent teamwork, enabling GHK to be considered an example for other private hospitals to support the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.

A further step has recently been taken to foster a family-friendly workplace by signing the “Good Employer Charter 2024” launched by the Labour Department. Living up to the inspiration of “Care. For Good.”, we have been introducing a number of staff caring policies and family-friendly measures, we also actively engage our colleagues for feedback with the aim towards helping us better address your needs. Through our participation in the Charter, I look forward to upholding our continuous commitment to providing a happy and inclusive environment and creating a strong sense of belonging for you.

I would like to thank you for your support and participation in the IHH’s 2024 Employee Engagement Survey. Your insights and feedback will help us identify ways to improve and make meaningful changes. Having said that, please remember that the survey is only part of the ongoing process, and I would always love to speak with you and listen to your views, whether in person or through other different staff communication channels. So please feel free to have a chat with me when you see me around!

Warm regards,

GHK accredited the first private Baby-Friendly Hospital
in Hong Kong
We are proud to bring you the good news that GHK has recently been awarded the certification of Baby-Friendly Hospital by the Baby Friendly Initiative Hong Kong Association after a journey of collective effort since 2018. GHK now stands as the first and currently the only private hospital in Hong Kong to have achieved this recognition.

The recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and support to mothers and their little ones. Our great appreciation goes out to all colleagues and doctors, especially those from Nursing Training and Development Department, Nursery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Ward,  Paediatrics Ward, Clinic N, Clinic P and all lactation consultants, who have made substantial contribution to the preparation exercise.

Contributing to chronic disease management and prevention
A new remote care service programme, MoniCare, which provides regular remote monitoring of participants’ blood pressure and regular nurse follow-ups and doctor consultations is launched to empower people to manage their own health, facilitating early intervention of chronic diseases. The service is expected to be extended to other chronic disease management including diabetes and cardiac monitoring.

By connecting the device to our mobile app which is integrated with an AI health monitoring function, participants’ health data is recorded in the app. Should any abnormality in health data be recorded, notifications will be issued by the app to alert participants to seek support through the hotline or arrange medical appointments if needed.

MoniCare is now launching 6-month free trial service for eligible members of the public until 30 November 2024!
Reaffirming our commitment to fostering
a family-friendly workplace

Upholding the Group’s aspiration to “Care for people”, GHK has signed the “Good Employer Charter” launched by the Labour Department. Themed “Supportive Family-friendly Good Employer”, the signing of the charter reaffirms our pledge to cultivate a caring and harmonious workplace through adopting a people-oriented management approach, understanding the different family responsibilities borne by staff and supporting them to address relevant needs.
Contributing to better indoor air quality

GHK was privileged to have participated in a recent seminar hosted by the Indoor Air Quality Information Centre of the Environmental Protection Department and the Hong Kong Productivity Council which gathered practitioners from healthcare, religious and social welfare sectors to exchange insights on indoor air quality management measures.

Our Director of Operations Mr Wilfred Chiu shared GHK’s contribution to achieving good indoor air quality (IAQ) and how the hospital navigated through the challenges encountered during the management process. Mr Chiu also took the opportunity to encourage the audience to participate in IAQ management by sharing the upside of acquiring the certification.
Town Hall meeting

Over 100 staff took the opportunity to hear updates on our service developments at the Town Hall meeting staged earlier this month. Our CEO Dr Kenneth Tsang shared an overview of the recent key developments at GHK and the progress made in further expanding our service network outside the hospital. Also highlighted during the occasion included the 2024 Employee Engagement Survey, and the new digital initiatives which help enhance workflow efficiency and elevate patient experience.

A round of applause for our Service Champions of Q2 and Q3 2024 for their outstanding service and contribution to the hospital!
